‘I want to buy Bitcoin’ are those immortal words that are the first steps to getting involved in cryptocurrencies. Once muttered, you’re in for an exciting ride like no other. Bitcoin is the hub of a new wave of Financial Technology (FinTech) that is set to change the world as we know it.

So if you want a easy to follow guide on how to buy Bitcoin, read on.

Where to buy Bitcoin?

This is easy! I’d recommend going straight to Coinbase. It’s safe, easy and great for beginners.

1. Create Account

Opening a Coinbase account is super easy. You’ll have an account open by the time you have finished your first coffee. Open an account here and buy or sell for $100 or more to get $10 free bitcoin!

2. Connect a bank account

When you open a Coinbase account, you will be prompted to link a bank account.

This is really easy if you follow the Coinbase guidelines. I’m based in the UK and I’ve never had an issue with my connected back account (Barclays).

3. Buy Bitcoin

Using a Web Browser

  1. Go to the Buys page.
  2. Select the type of digital currency you’d like to buy
  3. Enter the amount you’d like to buy denominated in either digital currency or your local currency.
  4. Select the wallet you wish to have your funds deposited into.
  5. Select your desired payment method.
  6. Confirm the order is correct and click Buy.

Using the iOS & Android Apps

  1. Tap the menu icon near the top left of the screen to open the Navbar.
  2. Select Buy from the Navbar.
  3. Select the type of digital currency you’d like to buy.
  4. Enter the amount you’d like to buy denominated in either digital currency or your local currency.
  5. Select the wallet you wish to have your funds deposited into.
  6. Select your desired payment method.
  7. After reviewing your order, tap Buy.

Now you have mastered buying Bitcoin you may want to exchange this Bitcoin for another cryptocurrency. This is done through an exchange and again it’s relatively easy if you follow a good guide. There are lots of great ones around.

I’d always choose Binance Exchange as the first port of call, but there are others. If you want to find out a ranked list of the 10 best cryptocurrency exchanges for trading then follow the link, and choose the one that works for you.

There’s also a handy guide here for new traders.

And here’s the link again for Coinbase
